Robots: A variety of kinds of robots have been using for visitors and athletes. Some of them are used to enforce social distancing requirements because of COVD-19, to transport equipment, and so on. The other “smart” ones can make some drink and serve them.

Smart beds: The athletes sleep “smart beds” equipped with sensors. They can collect their body information and control different sleeping positions. These high-tech beds are quite different from the lower-tech versions used in Tokyo 2020 – which were made of cardboard material for environmental reasons.

Digital currency: China uses digital currency in Beijing Olympics for the first major test with foreigners, Visitors can use them in many ways in their stay. They need download app, and get a digital card or exchange currency into digital forms.

App monitoring: Olympic attendees must use an app “MY2022” for monitoring COVID-19. To take part in the Games, users must send their health information with app.

However, there are some security problems, says Canadian organization. They mention that private user information are being read and exposed. The report also said Chinese company can read that information. Because of those problems, cybersecurity Internet 2.0 advised attendees to buy and take a new phone for their stay. Visitors also can create a new email address and browser account temporary.

At the end of the blog

I chose this article because I would like to share some efforts by organizers and experts like engineers.  behind the games. After reading the article, I thought China use their good technology effectively to make a success in their Olympic. However, I also thought that they collect too much information from attendees. They could be afraid of abusing their personal information.

    1. Thank you for your replying, Aono! I'm glad to hear that you had interest with Beijing. Of course the main events of Olympic is sports game, however many people are getting involved to Olympic using their expertly skills to make it success. I think if someone abuse attendee's personal information, it's serious problem. They must not do that with with "a festival of peace".

  6. Fascinating news story and an interesting & balanced response. The story highlights both the advantages & disadvantages of technology, doesn't it? It is concerning that something that can keep people safe such as the My2022 app may potentially be used to do them harm. The adoption of new technologies only underlines the need for people to make moral choices. In this case, the choice to protect rather than exploit.
