The ancient Italian city of Pompeii was located on the Bay of Naples. A vesuvius volcano erupted and rock and ash flew through the air. The city and Many people were buried under the ash in 79 A.D. In this century, the excavated Roman city seemed to a second death because of years of inattention and mismanagement, not eruption. However, Pompeii is starting a rebirth. A restoration project prevented the ruins from damaging by using the latest computer technology. The Great Pompeii Project was a $120 million restoration effort that ended in 2016. It helped stop the ruins from further harm. But, the ruins battle against time and new problems occur now. AI and robots doing work that is impossible for people.  we make the most of AI at the ruins. AI and robots keep the ruins from collapsing and help repair damage to structures in a building. In addition, the goals of the Pompeii park go further than protecting ruins. We can try to contribute to a change. We can overcome new difficulties.

I leaned that ruins of Pompeii faced new problems and tried to deal with them. I chose to introduce this story to this class because I learned about Pompeii in other class and was interested in it. This story made me feel like became wiser.

  2. Hi, Kaho! At first, although I have heard Pompeii, I didn't know what happened before and what's going on now. I think robots doing work that is impossible for people is very good things! I hope Pompeii continues to rebirth with technology.

  3. If ancient people knew that Pompeii was protected by AI and robots, they must be surprised! Even if such historical places face collapse or ruin, I think people have to prevent destruction by using every way they have. I hope the AI and robots preserve historical things in the future.

  5. Hi Kaho,

Thank you for sharing me about this story. I have been to travel in Rome twice time.
As you informed, this problem is faced on serious things and we also need to preserve the remains at Pompeii, and pay attention to another heritages in Rome or the whole Italy.
I saw some heritages such as Colosseo or Terme di Caracalla etc..
To keep a preserve many heritages, it needs to invest a huge amount of time and money.
So, Something you said got me thinking again.
Thank for reminding me this cause.

I hope that you would continue to raise an intriguing question for everyone.

    Thank you.
