Britain Marks 70 Years of Charge under Queen Elizabeth – Kazuki Tashiro

 

Britain marked the 70th anniversary of Queen ElizabethⅡ’s rule on 4 February 2022. Some historians say that she is one of monarchs who commands unquestioned respect. What is her power?

She became queen in 1952 when she was only 25 years old. At that time, Britain survived the damages of World WarⅡand then Britain’s own empire has disappeared. So she has experienced a lot of changes.

Now British monarch is thought that she has few practical powers and that she is not political. However, she is expected to have used “soft power”. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, she used her broadcast to calm the public.

In conclusion, she has not achieved something outstanding. However, she will be memorized not only because of her longevity but the period of changes she witnessed.

I chose this article because I was interested in why the queen in Britain had been loved by public. After I read it, I found that she has been loved by public because of her familiarity. She is often compared with ElizabethⅠand then she may be inferior about achievements. However, she had experienced many transformations surrounding her country and then she relieved her nation.

    An interesting news story and some interesting reflections on it. I have a great deal of respect for the Queen. Her dedication to duty is very impressive and her faith in God is an inspiration to me. She has indeed between a rock of stability in the midst of shifting tides.

    I read your summary with interest, because Japan has no monarch like Britain. I think she is smart because she has never forced people to respect her authority as a queen. That's also the reason why she loved by the British public, don't you think so? Thank you for your sharing!

    Although she does not have any real political power, I think she has a power to influence people's feeling. There are many royal family related souvenirs in UK, so I think she is a one of symbols of UK. I am interesting the different from Japanese emperor.

    I've heard the broadcast which is Queen Elizabeth did to make people calm down. When I heard the news, I felt the importance of her for the world, especially in Britain. I agree with your opinion: much experience made her attractive person, so many people love her.

    Regarding your story, I definitely think that most of England love and respect for Queen ElizabethⅡ. Or we basically, as people from various parts of the world, are more concerned with her. And I'm also one of them.
    For example, when I traveled London, I found a lot of souvenirs her or the Royal related.
    Probably for most people will absolutely buy one.

    As you know, our country in Japan, as Emperor's blood is handed down through the generations. England and Japan are similar, as they have a respect and familiar for both.
    We may learn much from their history, thus, both are no particular interest in political matters for a long time, but both also remain unconcerned.
    It may make them all the more valuable.
