Yu Obata

Hello! My name is Yu Obata, please call me Yu.

I grew up in Niigata, and I live in an apartment near the Niigata University with my twin sister who also belong to Niigata University. I'm a 2nd year student, and my major is agriculture engineering.

To overcome the weakness of speaking and listening to English, I take part in this English-language course. After this program, I will be able to speak English better than before.

I like vegetable, rice, meat, fruit, and everything to eat, but I don't like bitter one like coffee. When I have free time, I often watch movies, eat something, drive a car, or talk with my sister. Though I like eating, I don't like eating out.

As a part-time job, I have typed what teachers said for those who are hearing impaired. It was conducted by Niigata University.

I describe my good points as having rich imagination. However, I have a bad point spending much time to decide something.

I'd like to travel all over the world as well as Japan in the future.

This is a picture taken at Sasagawanagare in Murakami City in Niigata Prefecture. I went there with my sister by driving!

  1. Dear Yu.

I have seen a flyer of your part time job. That's so interesting and important, I think.
And I did not see a location of Sasagawa nagare. It's very beautiful! I want to visit there, too.

Thank you for your interesting stories.

  3. It is nice that you are able to live with your twin sister. It is nice to have company. I like going for drives like you, or going for a drive into the hills for a hike or going for a drive to the beach for a swim. Both Japan & NZ are island-nations with varied and striking scenic landscapes. We are so blessed aren't we! :-)

    1. Thank you for your comment, David. I can't live without my twin sister because it's too lonely to live alone in an apartment. I'd like to visit New Zealand and enjoy going for a hike and seeing beautiful sea someday. We Japanese and you New Zealander are in really thankful natural environment, I think so too!

  4. Hello Yu,

I was so fun to read your blog! I did not know that you have a twin sister. Is you and your sister's face the same? I am look forward to seeing with you and your sister in our university someday.

So, I have a question about driving.
When you drive a car, are you feel a comfortable or so nervous?
I would like to know how to relax it.

    1. Thank you for your comment, Nozomi. I don't think I look like my twin sister, but people say we have the same face when they see us for the first time. If they adjust to our face, most of them distinguish me from my twin sister.
I feel comfortable when driving, but if I drive somewhere I've never driven, I become nervous. If you get to know how to drive well, it’ll be fun for you!

    1. Thank you for your comment, Aono. Actually, I can use a car only when I go back to my hometown. I have visited Mt Yahiko, Mikawa ski resort, State-owned Echigo Hills Park, and some more places in Niigata. I'm planning to visit all cities, towns, and villages in Niigata Prefecture by car.

  8. Hi yu! You seems to enjoy many hobbys. When you drive, do you drive a car yourself? Then, I was very surprised about your part time job, because I also do notetaking at university! I want to cooperate in working at the same class someday.

  9. Hi, Yu!
I was impressed with your part-time job!
And I was surprised to read that you drove a car when you were free.
Because I sometimes drive a car but still get nervous when I drive...
Have you ever been to any good spots for driving in Niigata?
If you have, please tell me!
    Nice to meet you!

    1. Thank you for your comment, Kazuki. I recommend you to visit Mt Yahiko because when we go up the mountain by car, we can see beautiful nature there. Especially in fall, it is said that we can see beautiful red or yellow leaves. I visited there in the season when green leaves remain, but it was also beautiful sight. You'll be able to enjoy nature there regardless of seasons.
